Born and raised in the Mile High City, Matt Hammel has lived all over the metro area, climbed all of the state’s 14ers, and is working to complete the Colorado Trail among other of the nation’s high points. He knows so much about the city and the region that he’s an excellent source for local lore.
While attending college in Alamosa, Matt played four years as wide receiver for the Adams State Grizzlies football team. After graduating in 2001, Matt returned to Denver where he took a position as personal trainer and massage therapist for an exclusive fitness club in Cherry Creek North.
Wanting to spread his wings, in 2014 Matt opened his own boutique fitness studio, Green Door Fitness. Located in Congress Park neighborhood, Matt’s staff of highly trained professionals work one-on-one to motivate and guide members to improve their physical and mental health through exercise and community.
Matt, his wife Maree, and their daughter Luna recently moved to the Montclair/Mayfair neighborhoods after they completely remodeled a 1929 international-style house into the home of their dreams. They enjoy biking, hiking and watching Luna compete in gymnastics. They believe in locally sourcing their food, so they raise chickens and belong to a Community Sourced Agriculture (CSA) group.
Matt began managing rental property in the early 2000s — some he owns and some he manages for others. This experience led him to earn his broker’s license, and now he eagerly anticipates working with prospective buyers and sellers. Knowing the importance of one’s personal space, or home, Matt will consider it an honor to give each client personal attention and guidance, and he will treat each transaction as if it were his own.
